I have some suspicions that the edelbrock pump is made for those in mind that idle their overcammed engines at 1500 rpm. The model year has 766 complaints on Car Complaints. Interestingly enough, the stock pump with the cast impeller did seem to perform more reliably at low rpm. The Ford Explorer was redesigned for 2006, but it didn’t bring much relief from earlier problems.
